No one would ever use a "note track" with no event containers on it but a continous stream of notes!! But with automation many people seem to accept this different and inflexible approach. Automation data should be placed inside a container just like notes are. I avoid automation tracks whenever possible. I absolutely HATE automation tracks - for me they are a thing of the past and may help some people - but not me. And the only way to do this currently is by using an instrument track.Īutomation events make a very big difference when handling automation data! They can be aliased / ghosted and copied / moved around and stretched very easily in independent chunks. I want to use automation events and not automation tracks.
The reason for creating an instrument track for automating a parameter is pretty simple.

I offer FREE assistance for Studio One (any version) and Presonus hardware, to anyone having issues or anyone who simply wants to learn Have you tried dragging the control link parameter to create an automation track for that knob? Not sure why you're creating an instrument track to automate a plugin parameter. So it appears to be a bug or limitation or whatever which affects Trash 1 and 2.Ī Metaplugin instance DOES appears on an instruments target list so therefore the best workaround for me at the moment is to use Metaplugin as a wrapper. This is odd as other VST plugin inserts DO appear there! That being said Trash 2 (and Trash 1 also) do not appear in the target list for an instrument track when they exist as insert somewhere. The targeted GlissEQ instance can be on any track as an insert effect in this case! So it DOES work this way with MOST plugins in fact! And I love it because I can use event automation and I do NOT have to bounce anything and everything remains flexible and realtime. However when I want to automate that plugin by event automation I can do it by using an instrument track which has GlissEQ as its target.
